The White Paper sets out a vision and a framework for the development of rural communities in Ireland . It marks a new approach and commitment by Government to rural development.
The Western Development Commission (WDC) is a body under the aegis of the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs. It was established on a statutory basis on 1 February 1999. Its function is to promote the economic and social development of the Western Region, (defined as the counties of Connacht, plus Clare and Donegal) including management and operation of the Western Investment Fund.
