Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, has announced a grant of €18,474 to enable Coiste Forbartha Thuar Mhic Éadaigh to carry out improvement works on Coláiste Mhuire, Tuar Mhic Eadaigh, Co. Mayo. This funding consists of €15,395 from the Gaeltacht Improvement Schemes and €3,079 under the CLÁR scheme.
The Minister said that centres such as Coláiste Mhuire had huge influence on the preservation and promotion of the Irish Language and that this project would promote the social development of the region. “The local community uses the Coláiste for a variety of community events, many of them connected to the Irish Language. I hope that this grant will encourage the committee in their efforts on behalf of the region and the Tuar Mhic Eadaigh Gaeltacht,” he said.
