Éamon Ó Cuív, T.D. Minister for Community, Rural, and Gaeltacht Affairs announced today that he has allocated CLÁR funding of ¬22,500 to Sussa, Ballinskelligs (DED Teeranearagh) in County Kerry. This will enable a total value of works amounting to ¬60,000 to be carried out.
Under the CLÁR initiative, every ¬1 spent by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government on Small Public Water & Sewerage Schemes located within the CLÁR areas, is matched by ¬1 from the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs. This ¬1 for ¬1 matching funding is designed to further encourage the development of public water supply and sewerage systems in small towns and villages located within CLÁR areas.
In line with the requirements for small public water and sewerage schemes generally, this CLÁR funding is conditional on the Local Authority or local interests contributing 25% of the total cost of the project.
The breakdown of funding for all public water and sewerage schemes in CLÁR areas is:
| Organisation | Percentage |
|---|---|
| CLÁR | 37.5% |
| Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government |
37.5% |
| Local Authority or local funding | 25.0% |
| Total | 100% |
