Disability Policy Division
Disability Policy Division is responsible for the coordination of Government Disability Policy. The main functions of the Division are:
- Co-ordinates the National Disability Strategy
- Co-ordinates the implementation of The Disability Act. A review of the operation of the Disability Act has now been completed.
- Engages at EU level with the Commission and Council of Europe on development of disability policy and procedures
- Coordinates the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD)
- Provides grant aid and corporate governance to the National Disability Authority (NDA), Persons with Disabilities Ireland (PWDI) and Vantastic Limited.
- Promotes Disability awareness campaigns
