Internal Audit Unit provides a systems based internal audit service within the Department. The Unit is responsible for evaluating the adequacy, application and effectiveness of the Department's internal control systems. The scope of the Unit is not alone confined to financial systems, it encompasses all activities of the Department.
The Unit prepares reports at the end of each audit and formally presents them to the Accounting Officer and to other members of the Management Advisory Committee (MAC). Copies of audit reports are also forwarded to the Department's Audit Commitee, which provides assistance and advice on matters relating to internal audit. The reports are also sent to the Comptroller and Auditor General's Office.
